Southern yellow-billed hornbill

Kruger and fashion…here you are!

This model is a Southern Yellow-billed Hornbill, Tockus leucomelas.

It is common throughout Kruger. I found it especially along roads, on picnic sites and restcamps. This one is photographed in Afsaal. Afsaal is a picnic spot along the H3 in South Africa’s Kruger National Park.
It is situated about 65 km north of Malelane Gate and 38 km south of Skukuza.

So in this designated area I could I could get out of my vehicle, mount the heavy 400 on the monopod and shoot…
…shoot 30 minutes or so, didn’t want to push my luck carnivorous-wise;-)
